Book Week is always a special time at Turramurra Kindergarten. It gives children the opportunity to celebrate the books and characters they love while discovering that stories can inspire imagination, creativity, communication and confidence.
This week, our children have been encouraged to bring their favourite books to kindergarten and dress up as characters from their favourite stories. The result has been a wonderful celebration filled with colourful costumes, storytelling, imaginative play and plenty of smiles.
Bringing Favourite Stories to Life
For young children, books are more than words and pictures on a page. Stories can become a starting point for imagination and play.
By dressing up as a favourite character, children can explore different personalities, act out stories and create their own adventures.
Whether they become a superhero, an animal or another much-loved character, children have the freedom to express themselves and connect with stories in a way that is meaningful to them.

This week, one particularly special moment involved a child who is usually quite shy. He arrived dressed as Hulk, and it was wonderful to see how much more confident he became.
Through his costume and imaginative play, he became more playful, started having more conversations with his friends and engaged more confidently with the children around him.
It was a beautiful reminder that sometimes, a favourite character can give a child the confidence to express a different side of themselves.
