Celebrating Grandparents' Day at Turramurra Kindergarten
Grandparents' Day is always a special occasion at Turramurra Kindergarten, and this year was filled with smiles, laughter and wonderful moments shared between grandparents and grandchildren.
We were delighted to welcome our grandparents into the kindergarten for a celebration that brought generations together and gave children the opportunity to share a little of their kindergarten world with some of the most important people in their lives.
A Heartwarming Welcome with "You Are My Sunshine"
To make the day extra special, our Dingoes and Wallabies children prepared a lovely surprise for their grandparents.
As the grandparents arrived, the children welcomed them with a special performance of "You Are My Sunshine".
It was a beautiful moment to see the grandparents' faces light up as they listened to their grandchildren singing. The song created a warm and joyful atmosphere, setting the tone for the rest of the celebration.
Activities for Grandparents and Grandchildren
After the welcome, everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities together throughout the kindergarten.
There was something for everyone to get involved in:
Gardening: Grandparents and children spent time exploring and enjoying gardening activities together.
Sandpit play: A chance to dig, build and enjoy some hands-on play.
Self-portraits: Children and grandparents explored their creativity through drawing and creating self-portraits.
Soccer: One of the highlights was seeing grandparents and grandchildren kicking the ball around and enjoying a friendly game of soccer together.
It was wonderful to see grandparents actively participating, sharing stories and enjoying these simple but meaningful moments with the children.
The Importance of Family Connections
Grandparents play a special role in many children's lives. They share family stories, traditions, experiences and memories that help children develop a sense of identity and belonging.
