Meet Our Little Animal Friends
Our kindergarten is home to some wonderful animal experiences.
Our friendly bunnies are always a favourite with the children. Spending time observing them gives children opportunities to notice their behaviour, talk about what they see and learn how to interact with animals gently.
We also regularly welcome Shortie, our therapy pony, to the kindergarten. Shortie's visits are always exciting, with children enjoying the opportunity to brush him and even decorate his mane and tail.
These simple interactions help children learn that animals need patience, care and gentle attention.
Discovering Life Cycles with Hatching Eggs
One of our memorable learning experiences has been our Hatching Eggs program.
The children had the opportunity to observe chickens and ducks throughout different stages of their development — from eggs to tiny hatchlings and then as they continued to grow.
Watching this process first-hand encouraged children to ask questions, make observations and develop an early understanding of life cycles.
Instead of simply learning about growth from a book, children could see these changes happening in front of them.
