Mother’s Day Celebration at Turramurra Kindergarten

At Turramurra Kindergarten, Mother’s Day is one of the most heartfelt and meaningful celebrations of the year. It is a special opportunity for children, families, and educators to come together, reflect on love and care, and create lasting memories.
This year, the children spent time preparing a very special surprise for their mothers. In the lead-up to the day, they practised a beautiful song, “You Are My Sunshine”, filled with excitement and anticipation. The children were eager to share their performance and show how much their mothers mean to them.
On the day of the celebration, families were invited into the centre for a warm and joyful gathering. The children performed their song with pride and joy, creating a truly emotional and memorable moment for everyone present. Following the performance, each child presented their mother with a handmade flower, a simple yet meaningful gesture that reflected love, appreciation, and connection.
The celebration continued with a variety of engaging activities designed to encourage shared experiences between children and their families. These included Play-Doh exploration, creative painting, and planting activities using pots and soil. These hands-on experiences allowed children and parents to interact, create, and enjoy meaningful time together in a relaxed and joyful environment.
A special photo area was also set up for families to capture memories of the day. Smiles, laughter, and proud moments filled the space as parents and children enjoyed taking photos together. To complete the celebration, families also shared light refreshments, including snacks, cakes, and drinks, adding to the warm and festive atmosphere.
The day was filled with connection, joy, and gratitude. It was a beautiful reminder of the strong relationships between children and their families, and the importance of celebrating these bonds within our learning community.
