At Turramurra Kindergarten, music is much more than a fun activity—it is an important part of children’s learning, development, and everyday experiences.

From group times to our weekly music sessions with a dedicated music teacher, children are regularly exposed to a wide variety of musical experiences that encourage creativity, confidence, communication, and movement.

Every Object Can Become an Instrument

One of the most exciting parts of our music program is exploring different ways to create sound.

Children have opportunities to play a variety of instruments, including:

Guitars, Drums, Shaker eggs, Percussion instruments, Everyday household items and kitchen utensils.

By experimenting with different sounds and materials, children discover that music can be found almost anywhere. These experiences encourage creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving as children explore how different objects produce different sounds.

Singing, Dancing and Moving Together

Music at Turramurra Kindergarten isn’t just about instruments. Singing and dancing are also a big part of our program.

Children love moving their bodies to music, learning action songs, and participating in group dances. These experiences support physical development, coordination, balance, and gross motor skills while helping children build confidence and social connections.

During the cooler winter months, music and movement sessions are also a wonderful way to keep children active, engaged, and energised throughout the day.

Building Social Skills Through Music

Music provides many opportunities for children to learn how to work and play together.

As they take turns with instruments, listen to others, and participate in group activities, children develop valuable social skills such as:
